Ash Cloud Travel Situation

As everyone knows, the recent travel disruptions due to the volcanic ash cloud affected the entire UK sector.

When it became apparent that flights would be delayed, we made the decision Friday (16th April) to lease 11 coaches. These coaches left our resorts in France on Sunday morning (normal departure time for flights) and transported all 500 guests back to the UK, arriving at their departure airports just over 12-15 hours later than normal.

Emails from our customers have been flooding into our office since then, and we’d like to thank you for getting in touch — it does mean a lot! — and pass some of them on to you:

Compared with some other people in the resort it seemed as so we had definitely got off lightly with out travel plans back to the UK. If you could personally pass on my thanks to Nick and the team in France that would be great.  Once again we had a fantastic holiday and the staff in QS were superb.

Overall the service provided was just great.  Tom and his team were brilliant and the food was really lovely.  Above all of this we really wanted to say thank you for getting us home in good time.  We can see from other stories and experiences of our friends that we have been really lucky and we just wanted you to know that we appreciate it!

Job well done and we hope to see Chalet Rosset again next year!

I really have to say a huge thank you for your prompt and very professional handling of the “Vocanic Ash” incident.  You were amazing in getting to grips with what was no less than an international crisis.  It must have cost ski Olympic a small fortune to bite the bullet.  I can’t tell you how much of a relief it was that you managed to organised our return home with no interuption to our holiday, or even delay in our departure. The small inconvenience of our coach trip home was totally out weighed by knowing that we were returning home in the fastest, safest and most comfortable method available and organised by yourselves.

– C. Stewart

I would like to thank and commend Ski Olympic for your efficiency in getting us back from  Tignes on Sunday in unprecedentedly difficult circumstances.

You are to be congratulated on responding quickly and decisively to the sudden shutting down of air traffic; for keeping us all informed; and for making the necessary arrangements to get us back to England no more than 12 hours after the due time.

– P. Dean

I would just like to say a big thank you to everybody that organised the coach return from La Rosiere last Sunday. The people that organised coaches / ferries at such short notice deserve a huge pat on the pack.

– D. Snell

I would like through this email to convey my thanks and apprecation for your efforts to get your Tignes ski parties home last Sunday.  The return, though long in time, was uneventful and devoid of airport hassle - a credit to you and your coach company.

– O. Evans

I just wanted to say a big thanks to all of your staff who managed to get me home without any fuss or trouble.  The return was well organised and we were only home 16 hours later than we were scheduled.  Please pass on my thanks to all of the team involved in this!!!
